    (bands onstage from 10.30pm)

The return of the mighty Quantic Soul Orchestra & one of Bristol’s favourite visiting artists is joined by jazz, funk & soul legend Spanky Wilson, presenting songs from their new album together, I’m Thankful on Tru Thoughts.

And believe that Ms. Spanky Wilson is a legend. She’s performed with such greats as Marvin Gaye, Willie Bobo, Jimmy McGriff, Duke Ellington, Nat Adderley, Jack McDuff & performed the theme song to Kelly’s Heroes, conducted by Lalo Schiffrin.

Probably best known for her 1960 album Doin It, which featured Sunshine Of Your Love & Light My Fire, she also appeared on Quantic’s album with the now classic track Don’t Joke With A Hungry Man. This is a rare opportunity to catch the UKs favourite funk soul band with one of the world’s best funk soul singers.

Support comes from Gilles Peterson’s latest protege Ben Westbeech who will be making his live debut at The Academy, & of course, the Seen and futureboogie DJ crew.
